I asked how can I get correct unit, if all the units are packaged / labeled wrong. After holding for 35 minutes, support said "we have no reports of incorrect packaging." I was told to return the unit to Best Buy, and exchange it for the proper mouse. I called Logitech Support, described my problem. After I opened box, the P/N noted on actual mouse is 810-006874 and NOT 910-005783 (M500s). I purchased a unit today that said LOGITECH M500s in manufacturers plastic sealed box. PLEASE VERIFY WHICH UNIT YOU HAVE IN YOUR POSSESSION. I reported the listing to Amazon support, but I doubt they'll do anything about it.
Both the mouse and packaging look totally legit, everything is new, packaging print quality looks original, not counterfeit or anything like that. The serial number on package doesn't match the mouse itself either. Mine arrived and it is indeed model # 810-006874, yet the package reads 910-005783. I need a new mouse and figured this might just be a fluke, so purchased anyways via Amazon Prime (Sold by Logitech, fulfilled by Amazon). Well, or 3) both. There's a couple reviews on both Amazon and Best Buy from customers stating that the m500s they purchased is actually an m500 in m500s packaging. This is a design flaw of some kind in how they either 1) packaged the installer or program or 2) a poorly tested solution.

Why does it need Administrator right? That’s actually a good question. The answer is, for some reason, part of the tools installed by Logitech, namely LCore.exe in “C:\Program Files\Logitech Gaming Software”, does not run elevated by default. So at 5 am this morning I decided to find out why. Something that has kind of been nagging me, on the lower end of reality, is that when I set my mouse DPI, or notification preferences, post-reboot, they all disappeared. Running their gaming software (except for the overwolf overlay, I don’t need it, don’t stream). And I’ve sort of settled on the Logitech series of gaming gear, C920, G213, G602.
